Write for us

We welcome pitches that help readers understand a specific sporting object, surface, format, or design choice. Send proposals through the Contact page; a clear question and a defined scope are more useful than a broad subject label.

What to pitch

Propose an original explainer, comparison, history piece, or focused account of a sporting design detail. Choose one central question and show how the piece will answer it. We are interested in evergreen subjects that can be made useful without personal credentials, specialist access, or claims based on unverified testing.

What makes a strong proposal

Include a working title, a short summary, the category it best fits, and the main points you would cover. Note the kinds of sources the subject would need and flag any uncertainty, commercial connection, or safety-related boundary. Avoid pitches that depend on promoting a product or telling readers to make professional equipment or repair decisions.

How to send it

Use the Contact page and select the editorial question option to send a proposal. Please include enough detail for us to understand the angle. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication, and we may suggest a narrower question if that makes the piece clearer.

Our point of view

Sport is shaped by more than play

The lines, objects, and spaces around a game affect what players do and what spectators notice. We look closely at those details.
